Lavanya Viswanathan, MD

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Viswanathan diagnoses and treats general endocrine disorders, with special interest in diabetes, thyroid disease and cancer, adrenal and pituitary diseases, parathyroid disease, and osteoporosis and other metabolic bone disorders.

Dr. Viswanathan earned her medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, and completed her internal medicine residency at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She gained additional experience and knowledge during her diabetes and metabolism fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

She is a member of the Endocrine Society and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and is fluent in Hindi and Tamil, as well as proficient in Kannada and Spanish.

Dr. Viswanathan has medical staff privileges at Allegheny General Hospital, Jefferson Hospital, and West Penn Hospital.
