Joseph Congeni, MD

Dr. Congeni is the medical director of Akron Children’s Sports Medicine department and specializes in musculoskeletal injury evaluation and treatment of medical problems in athletes. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Northeast Ohio Medical University, Dr. Congeni completed his residency in pediatrics and fellowship in sports medicine at Akron Children’s Hospital and has been in practice since 1988. He is board certified in pediatrics with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. Dr. Congeni is a strong advocate for young athletes which he supports through committee involvement and published research. He’s also a frequent featured expert in the media for his insight on young athletes and youth sports.
