Dr. William Basco has been a general pediatrician at the MUSC Health Children's Hospital since 1997. The majority of his clinical activities are on the inpatient wards, caring for hospitalized children. However, he also supervises the pediatric trainees in the Pediatric Primary Care clinic and the Level 1 newborn nursery. His research interests include medication errors in children, particularly errors involving opioid medications. He has been very active in guiding MUSC's pediatric patient-centered medical home and quality initiatives.
