David Gower, MD

David J. Gower received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Florida. He went on to complete his fellowship at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine and residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, both located in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Gower has published numerous scholarly articles in medical journals and is a member of several medical organizations including the Society for Neuroscience, American College of Surgeons and the Research Society of Neurological Surgeons. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Gower served as the Chief of Neurosurgery at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. He has been practicing in the Atlanta area since 1994. Dr. Gower specializes in brain and intracranial problems, as well as performs highly technical surgeries to correct disorders of the central, autonomic and peripheral nervous system. He is thoroughly trained in the use of the Gamma Knife: an advanced noninvasive radiation treatment servicing both children and adults for a wide range of neurological conditions. In his spare time, Dr. Gower enjoys feeding and caring for his horses and taking part in the highly skilled form of riding known as equestrian dressage. Dr. Gower welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
