Dr. Burkle received his medical degree from La Salle University in Mexico City where he graduated with honors (cum laude). He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, where he served as a Medical Chief Resident in 1996 and was granted the Howard Kane Resident of the Year Award and Teacher of the Year Award. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center followed by a preceptorship in Advanced Echocardiography at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Additionally, he held a teaching position at Mount Sinai in the department of Trans-esophageal echocardiography in the year 2000.Dr. Burkle is the Clinical Manager of the Piedmont Heart Perimeter Office. He specializes in Cardiac Prevention, Lipid Disorders and Cardiac Imaging. He holds 6 Board Certifications including Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), Nuclear Cardiology (radioisotope imaging), Vascular Ultrasound and Clinical Lipidology.Dr. Burkle is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the National Lipid Association. He has been an instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for physicians, nurses and allied healthcare professionals on behalf of the American Heart Association since 1994. He has published numerous articles in scientific journals, medical book chapters and participates in clinical research. He joined The Atlanta Cardiology Group in the year 2000 and became one of the founders of Piedmont Heart Institute in 2007, where he is currently a Consultant Cardiologist.Dr. Burkle speaks Spanish as well, and welcomes new patients to his thriving practice.
