I think part of my own history helps me as a physician. The fact that I have diabetes. The fact that I have a chronic disease that I?ve had to manage helps me in educating patients and helping them know what to expect. As far as being a pediatrician, I?m a father of 10, so I have lots of experience at home, and I?ve seen lots of things even with my own children.
