Winchester Counselling

Winchester Counselling is the business name that Andrew Winchester trades under. Winchester specialises in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for marriage counselling and other evidenced based practices when working with individuals, couples, and families. In 2018, Winchester became one of only three male counsellors in New Zealand to achieve the status of certification in EFT with the International Centre of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.

After secondary schooling, Winchester studied accountancy, and then in 2002 graduated with a BA (Hons) SW from the University of Canterbury. In 2013, Winchester completed a master’s degree in education with first class honours, focused on learning and applying the following a number of evidenced-based counselling models, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and more.

Winchester continually participates in national and international trainer workshops, and his knowledge and methods are up to date and useful for assisting people in living a rich and fulfilling life personally and professionally.

Winchester has worked in couple counselling, depression and anxiety treatment, anger management, workplace support (EAP), individual and family counselling, group facilitation/education in prisons and the community, conflict resolution and more. Winchester has also done voluntary work in youth groups, victim support and lifeline counselling.
