Jimmie's Family Diner has a great history all stemming from two individuals Walter L. Anderson and A.J. "Jimmie" King.
Anderson is famous for starting the nation's first hamburger stand started in Wichita. He became so successful that he then opened two more stands in 1921. Once Wichita started to grow he opened a fourth one. He called his burger stand White Castle. So named for its construction was to represent a purity, cleanliness, and stability.
A.J. King was a young up and coming entrepreneur who went to work in the White Castle restuarants where caught management's eye. He elevated himself through the ranks purchasing the Wichita branch in 1938. With his management skills and dedication after WWII he expanded immediately renaming the branch Kings-X Restaurant. The creation of the King's Family Management and their businesses were expanded into full-service family restaurants. 1987 son of King built Jimmie's Diner. 2007, they were then sold to fellow Wichitans Jack and Linda Davidson. 2008, their son took over the family business.
