LOTSA LOBSTERS!!
WE WENT AS A GROUP OF SIX, FRIDAY EVENING. FOUR DINERS WERE TEENS. WE ORDERED ONION RINGS WHICH ARE A DELICIOUS "MUST HAVE", FRIED ASPARAGUS, AND MUSHROOMS AS APPETIZERS. I ORDERED VEAL MARTINI, THE KIDS ORDERED THREE 3LB. LOBSTERS, ONE 4LB. LOBSTER AND ONE FILET AND 3 LB. LOBSTER COMBO. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, (ALTHOUGH THE 4LB. LOOKED SMALLER THAN ANY OF THE 3 LBS.) BUT, THE SERVER WAS IRRITATINGLY INATTENTIVE. A GLASS OF WINE WAS ORDERED, BUT NEVER BROUGHT TO THE TABLE. THE BUSBOY FINALLY BROUGHT THE COFFEE AND WAS OF BETTER SERVICE THAN THE WAITRESS. THE BAR WAS JAMMED, BUT THE RESTAURANT WAS NOT CROWDED. THERE WERE ONLY TWO OTHER OCCUPIED TABLES IN OUR ROOM. I DO NOT THINK I WOULD CARE TO DINE THERE ON A SATURDAY EVENING. ALSO, THE FLOORS HAD BEEN RE-SEALED EARLIER THAT DAY AND WERE DANGEROUSLY SLICK.

Just Not Up to Snuff
Having lived in NY for a number of years and heard such great things about the Palm, I was very excited to actually visit the one in Chicago. Average is best way to explain my experience. The lobster bisque was room temperature, but the fried asparagus was very nice. It was a sin, but I sidestepped the beef in favor of the swordfish. I received a very large portion which I found very tasty. But the place simply did not live up to its name. I could have easily found just a good of a dinner at half of the restaurants in the city. As long as you realize you are walking into a "chain restaurant" your expectations should be fairly well aligned with your experience.

Great Cocktails
Great cocktails and martinis. the bartenders really know how to mix good drinks here. I went in there had, 4 martinis (2 of which were "on the house", just because i was an 837 member), and they were all mixed perfect. The food was also excellent, and the scene was nice for being a "hotel lobby resturant".

The best steak
This place is so high class. You go in there and you feel like your server thinks you're really important. Our server was the sweetest girl and really knew what she was doing. She knew everything about the menu and was one of the best servers I have ever had. We left her a nice tip and went away very full. Sooooo good.

One of the best steakhouses in the city
Fantastic service, and great food, too! I'd recommend going to the Palm if you're downtown for either lunch or dinner. For lunch, it's hard to go wrong with their Cheesesteaks. And for dinner, their filets and prime rib are unbeatable, though if you're in the mood for seafood, they have great lobster, as well. Sign up for their dining club and start getting rewards!

Great steak, service and atmosphere!
This restaurant has been a favorite of my family for years! I've been to several of their locations - 2 in New York, one on Mexico, Northbrook, a few others, but the location in downtown Chicago is by far my favorite! The service is always great, and the Maitre D' remembers me, even though I don't come in all that often, and even when I come in without the rest of my family. The food is always great, as is the service, and if something is wrong, and you say something, they will correct it, or comp you for it. It is clear that you are always their guest!

Tried a lot of items but not steak or lobster
We went to The Palm because it was one of the few restaurants open on Christmas. I know it's a popular place and I had fairly high expectations. The service was quite good / friendly. The prices are fair. Both the lobster bisque and the split pea soup were good. In fact, they were my favorite items that I had. All the bread was stale so I asked for fresh bread, and the server said since they don't bake the bread there they can't help it. He brought more, but it was sub-par also. The ceasar salad dressing was probably the most tasteless I've ever had, and I"ve had ceasar salad in countless restaurants. My freind ordered the tuna rare and blackened. It was a good size portion 10-12oz, was cooked correctly, but wasn't what I consider "blackened". The seasonings seemed to have been put on top of the fish after cooking it. My freind enjoyed it though. The broccoli was abundant and fresh. The creamed spinach was very good, and I'm very picky about creamed spinach. ( Lawrys Prime Rib also has excelent creamed spinach) Although it looked like the steak tartare look well seasoned, it was rather tasteless, and the portion was too small compared to what other restaurants serve. Phil Stefanis 457 on Rush has excelent steak tartare if thats what you are looking for. The main feature of the decor seems to be characters ( can't find the spell check!) of famous people and the feel was quite casual. I can definatley find a better meal in chicago so I probably wouldn't return. Of course if it's the beef and lobster that they are famous for then give it a try, just be forewarned of the other items.

Rude Awful Service
I called ahead to see if it was OK to bring two young children to the restaurant. The hostess said yes, the restuarant was loud enough that the kids are not an issue and that she herself brought in her two year old twice a week. We sat down and ordered lobsters and the kids were babbling happily. Next thing I know an imposing employee comes over to our table and says, "You going to shut those kids up or do I need to do it for you". I was agast at the treatment I received and not believing what I was hearing he followed up with, "I'll get the stroller for you".

The Palms Restaurant - Swissotel - Great Hotel - Awful Steakhouse
It is a disservice to the steak connoisseur to even have this restaurant listed as a one star. Simply put the food was bad - the management was worse. Having been around the restaurant industry for quite some time, I was absolutely shocked to see the way one of their management acted when I told him I was dissatisifed with the food and service. The "on duty" manager was James Sheridan - or at least he claimed that.

Delicious steak and amazing deal during "Prime Time!"
I was really impressed with The Palm, especially since most restaurants inside hotels are not very impressive. The food was excellent and only $3.50 during happy hour! Such a good deal, especially in this economy. Also, the service was good and the bartender was super attentive. Lots of good looking people there too... will definitely go back soon. Try the Filet Mignon Capri sandwich... it won't disappoint.American Express
