Carient Heart & Vascular is a practice dedicated to providing our patients with the best possible care. Our physicians are caring experts in the areas of Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Nuclear Cardiology.

In 1997, Virginia Cardiovascular Care was established by Dr. Shahryar Mafi & Dr. Khalid Abousy. Shortly thereafter, Virginia Cardiovascular Associates was founded in 1999 by Drs. Merdod Ghafouri, Shawn Yazdani, Hamid Taheri and Keith Chu. In 2013, these two organizations came together with a vision of innovative, productive and efficient medicine. They made a commitment to a caring approach and with that promise, Carient was born. With the expanded resources and established infrastructure Carient brought together, we are better equipped to provide unparalleled service.
