David Powell, ND, at Chaparral Naturopathic Medicine in San Diego began his professional career as an environmental scientist. He then realized he wanted to “clean up” and detox the planet on a more personal, human scale and decided to become a naturopathic doctor.
He works one-on-one with each of his patients, taking their spiritual, mental, and physical health into consideration, and puts them in control of their health and well-being. Dr. Powell provides each of his patients with a personalized wellness plan that includes diet and lifestyle options, as well as natural therapies.

Dr. Powell earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science and Master’s of Science in Marine Science at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. After spending eight years remediating toxic waste sites, Dr. Powell went back to school to complete his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University School of Naturopathic Medicine in Seattle, where he remained to complete his clinical training.
