As a fellowship-trained physician in interventional spine and sports medicine, Justin Waltrous, MD, is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating a variety of injuries and conditions. At Maryland Sports, Spine and Musculoskeletal Institute in Pasadena, Maryland, Dr. Waltrous focuses on individual care plans for his patients, with a special interest in assisting amateur and professional athletes.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Waltrous has shared his expertise in physical medicine on a national level as a teacher, through his research, and in his advocacy work. He has previously served as vice president of the Resident Physician Council for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Waltrous also earned numerous awards during his medical residency due to his dedication to teaching and facilitating the education of his fellow residents and medical students.
Dr. Waltrous earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore and continued his training with a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the prestigious Rutgers/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Newark, New Jersey, consistently ranked No. 2 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Waltrous followed his residency with fellowship training in interventional spine and sports medicine at Orthopaedic Spine and Specialists in York, Pennsylvania, under the direction of Dr. Michael Furman, an internationally renowned leader in nonoperative spine care.
For his patients, Dr. Waltrous offers a variety of on-site diagnostic services, including ultrasounds, and custom treatment services for musculoskeletal, brain, and spine injuries. He can provide both nonsurgical and surgical options to achieve healing and improve long-term functionality, mobility, and overall performance.
