Georgia Yarn Company

Born in Norwich, England, Cheryl emigrated to the United States in her teens and currently resides in Penfield, Georgia with her husband. She is a graduate of the State University of New York, Farmingdale and the University of Georgia, Athens.

Intrigued by the craft, she was inspired to learn weaving and has gained expertise through self-study and workshops. Her philosophy is that beyond careful execution, weaving must be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. By combining a variety of fibers with traditional motifs, this artist creates unique and timeless apparel and household weavings which she markets under the name “Shepherd’s Delight ”

Cheryl’s weaving has been featured in numerous shows and exhibits. She also has a strong commitment to imparting her enjoyment of the craft to others. To this end she does programs and demonstrations for schools and community organizations. She works with Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites and under her guidance several historic looms have been restored and are now being used and enjoyed.
