General dentistry services are covered. Ninety-five percent of dentistry is general dentistry, according to Dr. Entin. Think cleanings, root canals, porcelain crowns, dentures, bridges, extractions and cosmetic fillings. All these services are covered under Dentbenefits’ monthly plan.



Build a relationship with your dentist. When you have traditional dental insurance, your coverage will depend on your insurance administrator, who acts as a third party between you and your dentist. With copays, deductibles and pre-authorization requirements, getting the right care isn’t always easy.



If dental procedure (example: root canal treatment, extraction) is initiated by a participating general dentist but it is later determined by the participating general dentist that it needs to be referred to a dental specialist, the dental procedure will not be covered under the plan. The patient will be responsible for the cost of treatment by the dental specialist.
