For Dr. James Strycker, the realization that he was meant to be a physician happened around his junior year of high school. It was then that he discovered how his love of science could mix with his passion for helping people.

He went on to choose family medicine with obstetrics. Within those fields, he was able to chase his desire to treat patients from the womb all the way to old age. It’s the participation in their life that makes him love his job.

“I enjoy being able to be with patients through the good times, the bad times, and everything in between,” Dr. Strycker said. “I like that I can see in their victories and successes and share their life along the way.”

Another important aspect of his job is the team he works with. Dr. Strycker believes that you can be a great doctor, but you can’t take care of patients without an even better team surrounding you.

Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, taking walks with his family, and traveling.
