Dr. Joseph Lamelas, MD

Dr. Joseph Lamelas is a pioneer of minimally invasive cardiac surgery and consistently achieves among the highest survival rates in the nation. He is board certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery. Dr. Lamelas has performed more than 17,000 cardiac surgeries in his career, 7,000 of which have employed the minimally invasive approach. Dr. Lamelas offers patients every cardiac surgical approach available, and has been instrumental in the design and development of new and innovative concepts for advancing the field of minimally invasive cardiac surgery, including the “Miami Method” – a minimally invasive valve repair and replacement approach that he pioneered and has expanded to benefit patients with aortic pathology and multi-valve disease.
