Kristi Sowers, DVM specializes exclusively in natural healing (mainly essential oils) & Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). TCVM includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, food therapy & Tui-na (medical manipulation/massage). She takes an integrative approach to veterinary medicine, working with your primary care veterinarian to provide the most complete care for your pet. Dr. Sowers is a North Carolina native & moved to Asheville in 2013. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (go Vols!). Until recently, she has focused her career on emergency medicine. Dr. Sowers shifted her interests to a more holistic/natural approach to medicine after her own positive health experiences with essential oils & acupuncture. She started taking her own pets for acupuncture & saw amazing results where traditional Western treatments had failed. To specialize in animal acupuncture, Dr. Sowers completed a rigorous 130-hour course at the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine as well as an internship with a veterinary acupuncturist.
