Dr. Babik is not only a soccer player and a huge Kickers fan. He also sponsors the Ethiopian Ski Team. That’s right. This cross-country ski team, from a country with very little snow, is reminiscent of the Jamaican Bobsled Team, which millions came to know and love 22 years ago, as the underdog team in the 1988 Winter Olympics. The Ethiopian Ski Team trains, in its predominantly tropical climate, with roller blades with sticks attached. Dr. Babik takes inspiration from these athletes. He uses sports as a platform from which to reach as many people as possible–particularly youth—with the message that dental health, and health in general, is your best investment. Through the Richmond Kickers, Dr. Babik educates those in the youth program.
