Counseling & Mental Health in Glastonbury, CT
Counseling & Mental Health
Witnesses to violence may suffer from vicarious trauma that affects their daily life and lasts for several years. I offer a unique and compassionate perspective on the challenges that survivors of violence (police officers, combat veterans, emergency personnel, trauma nurses and medical professionals) encounter on a daily basis. I am retired Connecticut State Trooper having served for 20 years and retired in 2006 to work internationally on programs related to women's justice and prevention of child abuse, human trafficking and sexual violence in conflict zones. I've also worked with combat veterans who suffer from PTSD, depression and anxiety.
An advanced forensic nurse-board certified, I work with clients in the arena where health and legal systems intersect. I understand the difficulties that victims of interpersonal violence encounter, their need for safety and psychosocial support. Further, I have worked internationally to address trauma related to sexual violence across cultures and the life span.
Individual appointments and support groups for these unique populations may be scheduled with this clinician. Adults and adolescents preferred.
