Paul E. Pacheco, MD, FACS, FASCRS

Dr. Pacheco (pronounced "Pah-Check-O”) is a board-certified colon & rectal surgeon and a board-certified general surgeon who focuses on the operative and non-operative treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. He was born and raised in Illinois and trained at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. He has two decades of experience with advanced colorectal surgical techniques including robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery.   Dr. Pacheco commonly treats cancers of the colon, rectalum and anus. He has extensive experience in the treatment of diverticulitis of the colon.  Screening colonoscopy is a common procedure performed by Dr. Pacheco, and he is often referred patients with difficult to remove polyps with endoscopic mucosal resection.  He has a special interest in treating hemorrhoids and regularly treats patients with anal fissure, anorectal abscesses/fistula, rectal prolapse and anogenital warts. He also offers surgical treatment for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease) when indicated. Dr. Pacheco works closely with his staff to ensure they are offering the most up-to-date and evidence-based treatment.  His staff is composed of registered nurses and medical assistants with hospital and outpatient experience.  They work tirelessly to ensure the most comfortable experience possible for our patients. Dr. Pacheco is accepting patients and has offices in Springfield, Taylorville, and Litchfield.
