Active Door & Window Company was founded in January, 1967 by Bob Volk Sr. and his wife Emma. It began with one pick-up truck and the warehouse was Bob's garage in West Islip, Long Island, New York. Rapidly it developed into a larger business as his three sons, then of school age, helped out on weekends, etc. All three sons, Bob, Bill and Ed, entered the business as they graduated school and helped bring the business in New York to what it is today.
