When the ski area opened in 1961, the only lift was a rope tow powered by a 1949 Chevy. Friends and family would pay 50 cents (or a six-pack of beer) to ride the lift.Today, Timber Ridge Ski Area reigns as the premier ski resort in the Gobles, MI area.
