As the daughter of a speech-language pathologist, I grew up going to stroke support groups. When I started my nursing career here on the neuroscience floor, I fell in love with the brain. I saw that people can have the same stroke but suffer from very different symptoms.
It’s that nursing background that allows me to understand patients in the context of their unique and complex lives. I address each individual’s needs with compassion, providing the same level of care I would give a loved one.
My patients should feel safe, heard and understood. As our relationship grows, working alongside each other on their journey to a higher quality of life, I want them to know I am their advocate. Every day, I’m grateful for the opportunity to provide care and play such an important role in their lives.
