Bharti Shetye MD ?Dr. Abby?is a bariatrician (weight loss specialist) certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She is also trained as a primary care physician certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Abby joined Sun Coast Bariatrics as the medical director of the medical weight management program in 2016. The success of her medical weight loss program has been showcased by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in Washington DC as a ?national model clinic?. She has presented at local and national meetings of the Obesity Medicine Association and the Southern Obesity Summit.

She is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, The Obesity Society, the Obesity Medicine Association and the Obesity Action Coalition.

She is the recipient of the Prudential Davis productivity award by Gov. Rick Scott, has set up public-private collaborations by initiating the Fruit & vegetable prescription program with the Florida Department of Health, moderated support groups and cooking demonstrations to steer her patients towards healthy living and weight loss.
