Selamat Designs was founded in 1988 to creatively use the vast quantities of wood off-cuts left over after production of large pieces of furniture in Indonesia. The off-cuts were utilized to make stylish office and home accessories that launched Selamat Designs. The company quickly gained national prominence while remaining committed to its green principles. Over the years, the brand grew in popularity and customers began demanding greater variety and larger scale pieces of furniture; this lead to the company's expansion into a robust furniture manufacturer while staying true to its green roots of using off-cuts and sustainable wood.
