Barbara Cencora, M.D.

BARBARA CENCORA, M.D. is Board Certified in Gastroenterology, and is trained in both general gastroenterology (digestive diseases) and hepatology (liver diseases). She has been in practice in Monmouth County for over 19 years.

Dr. Cencora was born and raised in Poland and graduated from University of Medicine in Lublin, Poland. Dr. Cencora then came to the United States and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in Camden. She then continued on at UMDNJ at Cooper Hospital where she completed her fellowship in gastroenterology/hepatology. There she gained expertise in both colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, as well as advanced endoscopic procedures such as ERCP for diagnostic and treatment of biliary and pancreatic disease.

Dr. Cencora treats all aspects of gastroenterology (digestive diseases) and hepatology (liver diseases), including but not limited to Colon Cancer Screening, Heartburn/GERD, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease. Additionally, Dr. Cencora performs in-office hemorrhoid banding with the CRH O’Regan Hemorrhoid Removal system, which is a fast and painless procedure to treat hemorrhoids without surgery.

Dr. Cencora has been featured in NJ Top Docs “Healthy Living” magazine.

Dr. Cencora provides compassionate care to all her patients. She prides herself on being a good listener and works hard to treat each patient as a complete person, spending as much time as needed to address their questions and concerns.

Dr. Cencora currently resides in the area with her husband and four children. In her off time, her family keeps her quite busy. If requested, she may even give you a tip on gardening.
