Alvaro Mayorga-Cortes, MD

Alvaro Mayorga-Cortes, M.D., FACC, FASE, has more than 45 years of experience as a cardiologist. He specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of complex cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. Among the conditions he treats are chest pain, coronary heart disease, coronary syndromes, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, vascular complications from diabetes, valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias.

Dr. Mayorga-Cortes has given numerous lectures throughout the world to fellow cardiologists and the public and has published countless articles and textbook chapters in peer-reviewed scientific publications. He is an accomplished educator, serving as a professor of cardiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for nearly 40 years and at Florida International University, Wertheim College of Medicine for ten years.
