The intent of The Definitive Equalizer is not only to save lives, but to make the active shooter a less threatening event to those individuals such as students of a school, members of a church, attendees at a movie, sporting event, and/or concert, hospitalized patients, or any other occupants of any building where a safety structure is installed. The safety structure is also designed to protect responding emergency personnel.

In 1970, The Definitive Equalizer owner, Marian Hoy began a career in law enforcement. She is a former Dallas Police Officer, and current Texas Commission on Law Enforcement approved trainer. In March 1988 she founded and managed the only woman-owned training facility approved to train police officers in North and South America.

Ms. Hoy is also an approved trainer with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Private Security and founded and manages an approved training facility for security personnel. She holds an Advanced Peace Officer status, has a BS in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish as well as an MS in Business, and has completed approximately 4000 in-service training hours.

Since 1974, Marian has studied every active terror group operating in the world. Based on prior terror attacks in Europe, Africa, the Middle East as well as the U.S. she has researched, developed and designed a 'patented' safety structure capability, that when attached to the interior of a building, will stop, isolate, segregate and humanely hold an active shooter before he or she can kill.
