Elisa G. Melendez, MD

Dr. Elisa Melendez is a family medicine physician in Thornton. She moved from Chihuahua, Mexico to Colorado with her family when she was six years old. She received a bachelor's degree in biology from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, after which she volunteered with AmeriCorps. Dr. Melendez later earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado. She completed a family medicine internship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa, Texas, and a family medicine residency at the University of Wyoming in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is board certified in family medicine.Dr. Melendez moved back to Colorado and began working at Salud Family Health Centers in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She continued her career at Denver's La Clinica Tepeyac, Inc., where she served as the chief medical officer before she joined SCL Health Medical Group.Dr. Melendez chose to practice family medicine because she likes the variety and full spectrum of care that accompanies treating patients of all ages. Her work allows her to make a difference in every step of a patient's life.“My passion has always been to care for the underserved and empower them to live their best life. It rejuvenates me to know that I am helping someone accomplish goals that they did not think were possible."When not seeing patients, Dr. Melendez, her husband and two daughters enjoy family movie and game nights.
