Susan J. Petersen, MD

Dr. Petersen was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was just 11 years old, which was her first introduction to medicine. She wanted to be a doctor from that moment on so that she could help others as her doctors had helped her. Dr. Petersen is a great listener who educates her patients to do the work needed to become their healthiest, best self.A graduate of the University of Iowa, Dr. Petersen completed her internship program and residency with the Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Her hobbies include a variety of outdoor physical activities like hiking, biking, running and camping, but she also takes time to knit, play piano and read.
