Starla D. Maier-Walford, OT

Starla Maier-Walford received her degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 1999. After practicing five years with 5,000 direct hours in hand therapy, Starla tested and received her Certified Hand Therapy credential in 2004. Hand therapy combines knowledge of the physical structures of the body with functional analysis of everyday activities, and the credential must be renewed by continuing education and direct patient care every five years. Starla has dedicated her career exclusively to treating the upper limb, including the finger, hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder girdle. She enjoys treating a variety of injuries, including fractures, amputations, tendon lacerations, chronic pain syndromes and nerve disorders. Her continuing education courses range from manual therapy techniques, splinting and orthotic fabrication, and handwriting intervention. This broad range of skills allows Starla to use an integrated approach to therapy, using functional tasks and biomechanical techniques to promote the fastest return to everyday life for her patients.
