Autumn Wood

The purpose of Autumn Wood is to serve individuals and families directly affected by Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders throughout the progression of the dementia.

We believe that the PERSON precedes the dementia. People with dementia must be approached differently than those who do not have the disease. Individuals with dementia feel emotions as truth, and their needs are more emotional and psychological in nature. Individuals with dementia feel love through comfort, attachment, inclusion, occupation, and identity, and our prime task is to maintain and enhance this personhood in the face of failing mental powers.

We believe that trust, respectful attentiveness, dignity, hospitality, empathy, and compassion are integral components in caring for those with dementia and their families.
