Melissa Drake, M.D.

Dr. Melissa Drake chose obstetrics and gynecology because of the strong pull she feels toward working with and caring for women. At her practice in Santa Barbara, California, Dr. Drake helps women gain insight and control over their health, empowering them to make decisions based on their comfort and understanding of the issues.
Dr. Drake has extensive obstetric training that combines the most up-to-date modern technology with the experience and knowledge of natural childbirth techniques. As a result, she emphasizes holistic and intuitive childbirth, teaching her patients to trust themselves and their bodies.
Dr. Drake was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, and received her OB/GYN training at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her education and training included a strong foundation in obstetrics and gynecologic surgical training with an emphasis on complex obstetrical surgery and surgical emergencies, including emergency hysterectomy and massive transfusion.
Dr. Drake excels at collaborating with hospital teams, including anesthesia, interventional radiology, general surgery, and intensivists to achieve the absolute best outcomes for her patients. Her gynecologic surgical training exposed her to a wide range of techniques, from office-based procedures including colposcopy, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, and LEEP, to complex open oncologic surgical techniques for gynecologic malignancies including ovarian, uterine, cervical, and peritoneal cancers.
Her professional focus and emphasis are on laparoscopy. She continually builds cognitive knowledge and surgical problem solving, manual dexterity, and adaptability in her field of expertise.
