Makela Women's Health: Sandra Makela, M.D.

Sandra Makela, MD, serves the women of Santa Clara County at Makela Women's Health in Campbell, California. As a gynecologist, Dr. Makela created the vaginal revitalization center to provide women additional options in dealing with vaginal health.
After graduating magna cum laude from Pacific Lutheran University for her undergraduate studies in psychology, Dr. Makela ranked in the top 10 of her graduating class at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where she also completed her OB/GYN residency and served as chief resident in her final year.
To further hone her expertise, Dr. Makela spent a year attending a physician leadership academy in 2008 and earned her MBA in healthcare at the Paul Merage School of Business in 2012. During that time, she worked in several successful groups and private practice settings.
Dr. Makela has over 20 years of accumulated experience as a women’s health practitioner and six years in hospital leadership positions. She’s spent her whole life helping women improve their quality of life, starting with their most intimate health issues.
In her private practice, Dr. Makela addresses female-specific problems attentively, devoting as much time as her patients need for each visit. She also maintains an active role in the American Association of University Women to help the incoming generation of female leaders advocate for women’s health.
