Dr. Maria Palafox is a general surgeon trained in the most cutting-edge endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques. Dr. Palafox offers these advanced techniques to her patients in the San Antonio area for several procedures, including gallbladder removal and hernia repair.
At the cornerstone of her practice, Dr. Palafox is a highly skilled breast cancer specialist with considerable breast cancer surgery experience. In fact, Dr. Palafox is one of only a few South Texas surgeons to achieve Hidden Scar™ certification.
In addition to her surgical services, Dr. Palafox offers the latest advances in genetic testing and also performs essential screenings, such as colonoscopies.
Dr. Palafox graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After, she obtained her medical degree in general surgery and completed a post-residency fellowship in critical care.
Dr. Palafox served as the liaison for the Committee on Cancer to the American College of Surgeons for Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, an NAPBC-certified organization, and Bayshore Medical Center in Houston. She is also a former Chief of Breast and General Surgery within the Tenet hospital network.
