J Michael Herr DO

Welcome to the website of Dr. J. Michael Herr, Osteopathic physician. I practice Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine exclusively at my private office in West Hartford, Connecticut. I have over 39 years' experience honing my manipulative skills both in family practice and in urgent-care settings in West Virginia and Connecticut. I utilize traditional soft-tissue massage, muscle and soft-tissue stretching techniques, myofascial release, muscle-energy (or isometric stretch) techniques, and Osteopathy in the Cranial Field, following the teachings of William Sutherland, DO and James Jealous, DO.

My undergraduate degree was a BA in Natural Sciences from Goshen College and I then attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating with the DO degree in 1978. Internship and family practice residency followed and I have been board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine since 1981.

My focus in treating people currently lies in attending especially to the Cranial Field, following the Biodynamic model of treatment from Dr. Jealous and others. Sessions are by appointment only and take place in a very relaxed, calm and supportive environment.
