Cheri Standing, MD, provides integrative pediatric health services to children of all ages and their families at Bluebird Integrative Pediatrics in West Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Standing established Bluebird to promote children’s health through integrative and functional medicine. She is a graduate of Dr. Andrew Weil’s Integrative Medicine Fellowship and passed the Integrative Medicine Boards in May 2017. She is the only Integrative Pediatrician in the state of Iowa.
Dr. Standing practiced pediatric emergency medicine for over 20 years, and today she grounds her practice in what she considers to be the building blocks of good health: nutrition, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle. Rather than offering primary care services, she focuses on addressing chronic health issues that can make life more difficult for children and families alike, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), eczema, asthma, allergies, childhood obesity, and food intolerances.
Dr. Standing often finds that when she addresses a child’s health issues, the entire family benefits. She is experienced at coaching children and families through dietary changes like dairy-free, gluten-free, and anti-inflammatory diets, and is a support and resource when adding preventive care like physical activity, mindfulness and healthy habits into a child’s lifestyle.
