Before starting Duarte Advocacy, LLC, Cristina Duarte worked in the customer service industry for 10 years. Then, she received her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from Hood College. Following her passion for law, she received her Juris Doctor (JD) at the American University Washington College of Law in May 2015. Later, she became the Director of Regulatory Affairs at MezmoCorp and a solo practitioner. She also began doing pro bono work in addition to her full-time job.

She became a lawyer because she sensed a lack of customer-oriented service in the legal field. Clients weren’t always treated with the level of respect and dignity they deserve, and she felt that needed to change.
