Maan Khatib

Maan Khatib, MD is Board Certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology and he practices at Pediatric Specialists of Texas in San Antonio.

Dr. Khatib decided he wanted to become a physician in high school because of a fascination with human biology and the interaction of different human organs working in harmony. He was drawn to gastroenterology early on by the fact that small changes in clinical signs and symptoms can lead to different interpretations from one patient to another. He became increasingly passionate about pediatrics and the role of nutrition as the cornerstone in promoting optimal health, development and cognition in his young patients.

Dr. Khatib received his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology School of Medicine. Dr. Khatib came to the United States in 2007 and pursued research studies at the Department of Pediatrics Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology through the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his pediatrics residency at Miami Children's Hospital in Miami, Florida and completed his fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at the State University of New York at Buffalo Women and Children's Hospital.

His clinical and research interests include iron status in pediatric non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), the pathophysiology and treatment of celiac disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, food allergies, gastroesophageal reflux disease, short gut syndrome and childhood obesity. Dr. Khatib is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN), American College of Gastroenterology, American Academy of Pediatrics and American Medical Association

Dr. Khatib is part the pediatric gastroenterology team at Pediatric Specialists of Texas and Methodist Children’s Hospital.
