Mr. Gorney concentrates his practice on civil litigation. He has litigated real estate disputes, automobile accident cases, landlord/tenant matters, collection cases, and other business issues. While associated with Richard Kramer?s office in Oxon Hill, Maryland, he acted as underwriting counsel for a major title insurance company. For the last 25 years, Mr. Gorney has also handled title insurance claims for most of the major title insurance underwriters. As a sole practitioner, Mr. Gorney will give you the personal attention you deserve in preparing your wills, advance directives, and in handling the estates of your loved ones. He has received an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell. JAMES J. GORNEY, a former insurance adjuster, is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. He has been practicing law for over 25 years. His practice is primarily civil litigation with an emphasis in real estate, personal injury, commercial litigation, title insurance litigation, wills and estates. Mr. Gorney is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and currently serves as treasurer of the Charles County Bar Association. He is on the Board of Directors of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Laplata, is a member of the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland?Peer Review Committee and the Charles County Judicial Nominating Committee. Mr. Gorney has been appointed as a Settlement Conference Facilitator with the Circuit Court for Charles County, Maryland. He has served as a speaker with the Maryland Land Title Association.
