Lisa Brown, M.D.

Lisa Brown, M.D., (she/her/hers) is an ABFM board-certified Family Medicine Physician practicing in Custer, S.D. She is humbled and grateful to live in the beautiful and sacred space of the Lakota and the Kiowa and Cheyenne before them.
She is a 1998 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and a 2001 graduate of the Sioux Falls Family Medicine Residency.

Dr. Brown was born and raised in small-town central South Dakota, the lands of the Dakota and the Mandan, Arikara and Hidatsa. Through participation in food acquisition for the family of five children — gardening, fishing and hunting wild game — she learned to love the outdoors. She grew up watching her nurse mother and pastor father model caring for individuals and the larger community through their work. Her love of baking, cooking, reading, music, gardening and making things all come from her childhood as well.

As an ever-evolving person and physician, she is actively exploring and practicing how to see herself and others, and how to care for their medical needs through a lens that honors the wholeness of their being.
