Robert L. Shipley

Mr. Shipley received his degree in Political Science in 1980 from the University of California Riverside (cum laude), and his Juris Doctorate in 1983 from the University of California Davis. Mr. Shipley started practice after graduating law school with the firm of Weintraub, Genshlea, Hardy, Erich & Brown in Sacramento, California. In 1986, he moved to Carlsbad, California and joined the firm of Rich & Sussman, eventually starting his own firm in 1994.

For 31 years, he has represented businesses throughout the State of California in a full range of commercial litigation matters encompassing a wide variety of areas including wrongful termination, wage and hour, patent and trademark, unfair competition, commercial construction defect, unlawful detainer, and other labor laws. The employment law firm has practiced before all California State and Federal Courts, as well as the California Labor Commission and the Worker’s Compensation Appeals Board (relative to uninsured discrimination claims).

More notable clients of the firm include Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas, Solatube International, and Grand Pacific Resorts.

Mr. Shipley has attained a Martindale Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating, and also is consistently ranked as one of “San Diego’s Best” employment attorneys for several years.

Mr. Shipley has been extremely active throughout North San Diego County, serving as President of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, President of the Carlsbad Children’s Discovery Museum, and for almost ten years served as a member of the Board of Directors for Tri City Christian Schools.

Brandon S. Gray

Mr. Gray is a North County native. He received his undergraduate degree in Literature and Writing in 2008 from California State University San Marcos (cum laude), and his Juris Doctorate in 2011 from Thomas Jefferson School of Law (summa cum laude).

While in law school, Mr. Gray served on the managing board of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review as its Executive Editor, and he was also a member of the Thomas Jefferson Moot Court competition team.

Mr. Gray has been an associate at Robert L. Shipley, APLC since January 2012. His practice is focused on employment and business litigation and consulting, but he has also litigated cases involving real estate, copyright, trademark, and probate matters. Mr. Gray has also argued before the California Court of Appeals.

When he is not engaged in legal work, Mr. Gray enjoys the beach with his wife and daughter, restoring classic cars, and camping.
