Benjamin Szerlip, DO

Dr. Szerlip is a fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon. He specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee including joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, and other sports medicine injuries. He utilizes the most recent and minimally invasive techniques including hip replacement through an anterior approach. Dr. Szerlip also provides services in fracture care, and general orthopedics.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology at The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio and received his post baccalaureate training in clinical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. He then received his Medical Degree from The Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at University Hospitals Regional Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Szerlip completed his fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow surgery with several nationally recognized surgeons at the Fondren Orthopedic group in affiliation with the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Szerlip has authored multiple research papers on complex shoulder arthroplasty. His work has been presented on a national and international level and he has also served as a reviewer of manuscripts for various orthopedic journals. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and the Texas Medical Association.
Dr. Szerlip believes it is essential to educate his patients and promote shared decision-making based on medical evidence, clinical recommendations, and personalized goals to achieve the best possible outcome. He enjoys spending time with his family and loves outdoor activities including mountain biking, tennis, and triathlons.
