Dr. John Pilavas is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist serving patients throughout the Astoria, New York area. He specializes in the medical and surgical management of several optical disorders, and he also performs bladeless LASIK and PRK using the VISX® and Wavelight® excimer laser platforms. Aside from providing expert eye care at his private practice, he remains active in the wider ophthalmological community. Dr. Pilavas serves as a voluntary attending at Nassau University Medical Center, where he teaches residents about diagnosing and treating Cornea/External Disease. He’s also authored several peer-reviewed publications, presents his research throughout the United States, and reviews articles for Cornea, a peer-reviewed journal. He has also served as Sub-Investigator for several nationwide FDA trials.
