In 1923 Edwin Thompson gazed from his Menemsha Sheep Pasture at the sun setting into vineyard sound and decided he had as nice a view as one could find anywhere. The Menemsha Inn was open for business. Since then, the Menemsha Inn and Cottages have been a magical base camp for generations famlies to make memories. Our guests return year after year to reap the restorative magic of our thirty acres of natural beauty and our simple but wonderful sea view cottages, rooms and suites. The cottages' full kitchens, wood burning fireplaces and passes to Chilmark's Private Beaches Lucy Vincent and Squibby are just a few of the reasons the inn has been selling out for 94 years.
