Ann Elizabeth Tilley, MD

Ann E. Tilley, MD, is a board-certified specialist in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine. She is the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Function Lab at Lenox Hill Hospital and Director of Clinical Research in the Pulmonary Division. She is also a key faculty member in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship program at Lenox Hill Hospital and values the opportunity to train and mentor young physicians.Dr. Tilley s practice encompasses the full spectrum of pulmonary disease. She evaluates pulmonary complaints including cough, shortness of breath, and lung nodules. She cares for many patients with asthma, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and lung cancer, and she has expertise as well in caring for patients with less common conditions such as pulmonary embolism, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease/pulmonary fibrosis, and chronic lung infections such as nontuberculous mycobacterial disease (often called MAC). For her patients who desire to stop smoking, Dr. Tilley provides medical treatment to help them achieve that goal.Dr. Tilley believes in a patient-centered, collaborative approach to the practice of medicine and focuses on developing a treatment plan for each patient that takes into account his or her preferences and goals. She finds the ability to develop long-term relationships with many of her patients to be one of the most rewarding aspects of her practice.Dr. Tilley has conducted research on the effects of smoking on the lung and has published several peer-reviewed articles in this area.
