Sean Tchanho Hwang, MD

Sean T. Hwang, MD joined Northwell Health in 2008 and is an attending physician in the Division of EEG and Epilepsy. Dr. Hwang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.Dr. Hwang earned his MD from Tufts University, and completed his residency in neurology at Stanford University Medical Center before completing a two year fellowship in EEG and Epilepsy at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Hwang is member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, and the American Epilepsy Society. He is also a member of the Long Island Epilepsy Foundation Professional Advisory Board. Dr. Hwang is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Hwang specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of seizures, the interpretation of neurophysiologic studies, operative planning for epilepsy surgery, and in performing functional cortical mapping. Dr. Hwang s research interests also involve studying the interaction between epilepsy and behavior.Dr. Hwang is the Northwell EEG Site Director of the ACGME approved Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Program, and is closely involved with the training of the fellows and formulation of the curriculum. His duties at Northwell also include supervision and instruction of the general neurology residents, as well as participating in the education of the medical students on rotation with the department. People with epilepsy are faced with making complicated decisions about their healthcare everyday. I am dedicated to educating every individual about the important latest medical and surgical advancements available to them. It is my role to ensure patients are fully informed about the potential impact these therapies may have on their overall physical and mental well-being
