Equine & Horse Industry Law. Mary P. Tate Westman is an Oklahoma registered nurse with over 25 years experience in the healthcare field. Prior to being admitted to the Oklahoma State Bar in September 2015, Ms. Westman served in executive, clinical and operational roles where she collaborated on numerous clinical quality improvement initiatives with members of the hospital and medical staff. During the course of her healthcare career, Ms. Westman served as Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Compliance Officer, and Assistant Vice President of Quality Improvement.

Ms. Westman received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, Virginia; a Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa; a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a major in Healthcare Services Management from Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Ms. Westman earned a Juris Doctor Degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law graduating with honors as a merit scholar and in the top 5% of her class. She also received a CALI Excellence Award in Legal Research and Writing and is a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Ms. Westman is an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association serving on the Oklahoma Bar Association Law Schools Committee and Disaster Response & Relief Committee. She is also a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association Sections: Health Law, Appellate Practice, and Criminal Law. Further, she is a member of the American Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association, the Oklahoma Bar Foundation, and the Oklahoma Bar Association Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee.

A native of West Virginia, she now lives with her husband, David, in Norman, Oklahoma. Ms. Westman and her husband have a blended family of eight daughters, ten grandchildren, four dogs, and two cats. Together, they also own a horse stable in Noble, Oklahoma, and are Morgan horse breeders.
