Billings Clinic - Pediatric Oncology

The Billings Clinic Pediatric Oncology and Hematology (cancer and blood disorders) team provides a family-based plan to treating childhood cancer and blood disorders.

ediatric Cancer services include diagnosis, treatment and research for children with cancer (oncology) and blood disorders (hematology) in infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Special interests include:

Pediatric cancer including follow-up care for young adults who have had childhood cancers
Pediatric blood disorders, including anemias, platelet disorders, hemophilia, and other bleeding and clotting disorders.
The Billings Clinic pediatric cancer team works with pediatric cancer specialists in other cities to find the best treatment for each child, including innovative clinical research trials.

The pediatric cancer team works with an experienced team of oncology and hematology experts at the Pediatric Center and the Cancer Center, providing care navigation, infusion, research trials, supportive care and survivorship.

Sarah Blackburn, MS is the Pediatric Oncology Social Worker. Sarah is a member of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers. Lucinda McLean, RN and Kelli Binder, RN are pediatric hematology/oncology certified nurses.

The goal of the team approach to treatment is to enhance the emotional and physical well-being of children with cancer and their families. The team also provides various events for the benefit of the families such as therapeutic horseback riding, hot air balloon rides, and other fun, family activities.

Needs may be many and varied for children diagnosed with cancer and their families. Therefore, various programs and services are provided to enable families to navigate the medical system and to receive the support, which aids in the healing process.
