The Starving Actor

Playwright and Chef Brandi Burks Kesselman and her husband Jared opened The Starving Actor restaurant in July 2016 making everything from scratch. After many years of catering and then running their "What The Funnel" food truck, they opened this warm and welcoming getaway in DTLA.
They specialize in Cajun and soul food for lunch and dinner. Their shrimp po boys, BBQ chicken, mac & cheese, yams, and Shrimp and Grits are a must. Don't forget their tender and juicy fried chicken sandwich or Brandi's signature hot wings.
Wash it down with their house-made Lemonade with Chia Seeds or Sweet Peach Iced Tea. Indulge in their signature peach cobbler funnel cakes or Brandi 's original sweet potato cheesecake.
They also cater everything from private parties, to corporate events.
